Cap the chimney when it is not being used, fix any holes that might be in your vents, and make sure your roof is in good repair in general. A tracking patch made of flour can be placed in pathways overnight to determine if rodents are present. Tracks, including footprints or tail marks, may be seen on dusty surfaces or in mud.
